Maunder, to which I alluded in paragraph 44 of my despatch No.238 of the 5th.of October. would be brought to the notice of the Royal Humane Society.

I have great pleasure in inviting Your Lordship to bring to the notice of the Royal Humane Society the conduct of Mr. H.S.Bevan of Messrs.Lane, Crawford & Co. and of Mr. D.Gourlay, Inspector of Police, and to enclose in original statements by eyewitnesses of the services performed by these two gentlemen.

I also enclose Forms filled in in accordance with the instructions transmitted in Lord Kimberley's Circular Despatch of the 10th. of December, 1870, relating to the manner in which applications to the Royal Humane Society should be made.
